An Unexpected Christmas Musical

The New Hope Baptist Church (3007 Beechtree Drive) in Sanford is showing An Unexpected Christmas Musical on Sunday, December 4th. Doors open at 5:30pm. One night only! This musical is filled with surprise, humor, and realistic experiences that many people face every year at Christmas time. This is a free event.

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

The Lee County Veterans Council will be hosting a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on Wednesday, December 7th starting at 11:55 am. The service will be held at the North Carolina Veterans Memorial located at 210 South Main Street in Broadway. The public is invited to attend. Please bring your own chair.

Blueberry Bush Sale

Lee County’s 4-H is selling blueberry bushes to benefit the Lee County High School Juntos 4-H Club. Bushes are 15 to $25 with sale ending on December 31st. Toys for Tots and Photos with the Grinch

Toys for Tots donations will be accepted at Strother Real Estate’s Sanford office during the Christmas Photos with the Grinch on December 8th from 3 to 6.

3 – Alarm Toy Drive

Sanford Fire Departments along with the Firefighters Burned Children Fund continue the 3 - Alarm Toy Drive. The toy drive is geared towards children and adults at the NC Jaycee Burn Center and other parts of UNC Hospital. Drop off a new, unwrapped toys or gifts at any Sanford Fire Station now through December 14th.

Breakfast with Santa

The Knights of Columbus Council 6717 of Sanford invites all children and parents to Breakfast with Santa at St. Stephen the First Martyr Roman Catholic Church’s social hall (901 N. Franklin Drive) on Saturday, December 10th at 10 am. Menu includes pancakes, sausage, milk, hot chocolate, and coffee.

Santa

On Saturday, December 10th at 3:00, Santa will fly into Gilliam-McConnell Airfield in Carthage in an open cockpit biplane. Santa will then talk with kids about their Christmas wishes. This is a free event. Join the Carthage Christmas Parade which starts at 6:30 after Santa.

Live Nativity and Christmas Lights Drive Through

The Miracle Baptist Church (830 Harvey Faulk Road) in Sanford will have a Live Nativity and Christmas Lights Drive Through on Saturday, December 10th from 6 to 8 pm.

Christmas Bird Count

The National Audubon Society protects birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow, throughout the Americas. You can help their cause by participating in the Christmas Bird Count which is taking place now through January 5th! Access their website, Audubon.org, for all the details and steps to follow.

Drive Through Nativity

St Luke United Methodist Church (2916 Wicker Street) in Sanford will have a drive through Nativity featuring live animals and church members telling the story of Jesus’ birth on December 18th from 5:30 to 7:30.

Christmas Music and Service of Lights

Join the Community Congregational Church (141 N Bennett Street) in Southern Pines for a Christmas Eve celebration starting at 7 pm. The celebration features the magnificent CHRISTMAS ORATORIO of Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns, with choir and guest vocalists and instrumentalists. All are welcome!

Christmas Day Dinner

The Asheboro community is hosting a free Christmas day dinner for any senior who would enjoy merry companionship on Christmas day. Gordon Davis Relay for Life Soup and Dessert Meal

The Biscoe Presbyterian Church will hold the Gordon Davis Relay for Life Soup and Dessert Meal on January 7th from 4 to 7:00 pm. This will be a donation only event this year. The meal is vegetable beef soup or chicken stew, grilled cheese, and a dessert. Eat in or take out.

The Last Supper Casting Call

The St. Francis Anglican Church in Sanford is holding casting call for The Last Supper. The production will occur during the third week of March. Brrr Creek Plunge

Foothills Outdoors’ Brrr Creek Plunge is taking place January 14th at Dalton Cheek Canoe Access off Highway 705 in Robbins. The theme this year is "Wild Card", so bring back a past costume or try out a new one! The plunge is at 2:30.

Blueberry Pruning Workshops

The Lee County Cooperative Extension is holding two workshops for blueberry pruning – Thursday, January 19th from 10 to 1 pm and Sunday, January 22nd from 2 to 4 pm. The cost is $10. Access the Cooperative Extension website for more information and to register.
